You have the 4×4 vehicle and we have the sand route. Not too difficult in the loop, more challenging in the sandy bowl, altogether great family fun.
The Eden Park 4×4 Sand Route is approximately 6 km in length and of different levels of difficulty. There is the scenic loop which is not to difficult depending, of course, on the experience of the driver and the capabilities of the vehicle. And then there is the sandy bowl (Speelgat) area where the driver’s skills and the vehicle’s performance are really tested. This area has various gradients and angles of dip to challenge your skills. Great family fun as well as a chance to discover the capacity of your vehicle!
You will need a 4×4 vehicle with Hi and Low Range. Of course you need to deflate the tyres to about 1Bar, but there is a pump available for inflating the wheels again before leaving.
Please be on the look-out for our wildlife such as deer, tortoises, mole snakes (the big black one) and other animals. This is their home you are playing in, so please do not hurt or kill them.
Buy your permit (R100 per vehicle per day) at the entrance or at the Eden Park Club House.
Drive from Still Bay to one kilometre before Jongensfontein, turn to the right on the gravel road for about two kilometres.

Jy het die 4×4, ons het die roete. Verskillende moeilikheidsgrade, maar groot pret vir die hele familie. Die Eden Park 4×4 Sandroete is ongeveer 6 km lank. Daar is ‘n gedeelte deur die natuur wat nie baie moeilik is nie. En dan is daar die Speelgat waar die bestuurder se vaardigheid en die voertuig se kapasiteit deeglik getoets word deur hellings van verskillende grade. Dis dié plek om met groot pret jou voertuig te leer ken.
Onthou om die bande af te blaas tot so 1-Bar. Daar is ‘n pomp besikbaar om dit weer te kan opblaas voor jy vertrek.
Kyk tog asseblief uit vir die wildlewe soos bokkies, molslange (die groot pilswartes), die skilpaaie en ander diertjies. Jy speel in hulle huis – so moenie hulle seer- of doodmaak nie.
Kry jou permit (R100 per voertuig per dag) by die ingang of by die Eden Park Klubhuis.
Net voor Jongensfontein draai ‘n grondpad regs uit. Nog twee kilometers verder kry jy die Eden Park 4×4 Sandroete.
