Self-catering three bed-roomed holiday house in a safe complex in Still Bay. Enclosed by electric fencing and entry only through a remote controlled gate. The Palinggat-Oord holiday accommodation is perfectly situated within walking distance from grocery shops, a pharmacy, hair dressers, gift shops, restaurants as well as doctors. Also within walking distance from the Community Hall where many of the entertainment and events happen during the holiday season.

The similar looking buildings and beautiful gardens in Palinggat-Oord create a cosy storybook image what with the quaint little houses, the narrow winding streets and the Milk-wood trees. About 2 km from the western beach and the Goukou River estuary and 3 km from the Still Bay harbour.

The name Palinggat comes from the rock pool where the eels (palings) come every day to be fed. They come from deep under the rocks and eat chicken livers out of the hand of the feeder. A truly unique experience. This eel-pool is next to the Palinggat-Oord and people who are interested, can visit them and watch them feed the eels.

The House

Find the house right at the entrance to the complex with the sweet little garden around the front stoep. Drive through the palisade sliding gate, immediately turn to the right and the house is on your right hand side. Turn right again and park under the carport behind the house.

On arrival, first stop at the office to collect the keys and remote for the gate. (Between 08:00 and 20:00) They will inform you of all the things you should know to make your stay safe, comfortable and unforgettable. Make use of the facilities on-site such as the swimming pool behind the office, the tennis court as well as the squash court.

Stilbaai is a most enjoyable sea holiday destination and invites you to come and share in the beauty of the nature and the restless eternal motion of the sea.

Palinggat-Oord Holiday Accommodation

This self-catering accommodation can easily sleep up to 6 persons. It is very clean, uncluttered and well kept with simple, but stylish and comfortable furniture.

The house has 3 bedrooms, sharing one bathroom with shower only and one toilet inside the bathroom. The main bedroom has a double bed as well as a built-in cupboard with shelves and hanging space. There is also a full-length mirror on the wall. The second bedroom comes with 2 single beds as well as a built-in cupboard. The third bedroom has a bunker bed and a low cupboard with no hanging space. Linen as well as bath towels are provided and there are extra blankets in the cupboards.

Furthermore the self-catering holiday rental has a lovely, practical open-plan lounge/dining space/kitchen. There is a flat screen TV with selected DStv channels in the lounge. A good-sized table with 6 sturdy chairs occupies the dining space. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a stove with oven, fridge-freezer, microwave as well as a kettle and toaster. Also an iron and iron board, cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, dishcloths and a vacuum cleaner.

• Water sports lovers have a range of exiting activities such as swimming, paddling, surfing, scuba diving as well as water skiing, windsurfing, and kayaking. Also body boarding, sand boarding, rock fishing, river fishing and deep sea fishing.
• For the more academically inclined Still Bay and surrounding offers the ancient fish traps, the Blombos Museum of Archaeology and the shell middens. Likewise the feeding of the eels, the ‘Tuin op die Brak’, the Museum, as well as cheese and wine tasting and locally distilled gin tasting.

Ook binne loopafstand is die Gemeenskapsaal waar baie van die vermaak gedurende die vakansieseisoen aangebied word.

Die oulike half-eenderse huisies en pragtige tuine in die oord lyk soos iets uit ‘n storieboek. Dis omtrent 2 km van die westelike strand en 3 km van die Stilbaaihawe. Die naam kom van die rotspoel waar die palings elke dag uitkom om hoenderlewertjies te eet uit die hand van die voerder. Waarlik uniek om te sien.

Die huisie is by die ingang van die oord en het ‘n netjiese tuintjie om die voorstoep. Direk na jy deur die hek gery het, draai jy regs en direk weer regs en parkeer agter die huisie onder die afdak.

By aankoms stop eers by die kantoor en kry die sleutels en so ook die afstandbeheer vir die hek. (Tussen 08:00 en 20:00) Hulle sal jou voorsien van alle inligting wat jy nodig het vir ‘n aangename, veilige verblyf. Maak gerus gebruik van die fasiliteite op die terrein soos die swembad, tennisbaan en muurbalbaan.

Akkommodasie by Palinggat-Oord

Hierdie selfsorg akkommodasie kan tot 6 persone gemaklik huisves. Dit is skoon, en pragtig gemeubileer met gemaklike meubels.

Die huis het 3 slaapkamers wat een badkamer met slegs ‘n stort en so ook een toilet binne die badkamer deel. Die hoofkamer het ‘n dubbelbed en so ook ‘n ingeboude kas met hangplek sowel as rakke. Daar is ook ‘n lang spieël teen die muur. Die tweede kamer het 2 enkelbeddens en so ook ‘n ingeboude kas met hangplek en rakke. Die kleinste kamer het ‘n stapelbed en ‘n lae kas met rakke maar sonder hangplek. Linne en so ook badhanddoeke, duvets en ekstra komberse word voorsien.

Verder het die selfsorg vakansieverhuring ‘n lekker praktiese oopplan sitkamer/eetkamer/kombuis. Daar is ‘n platskerm TV met geselekteerde DStv kanale in die sitgedeelte. ‘n Mooi groot tafel met 6 stewige stoele staan in die eetgedeelte. Die volledig toegeruste kombuis het ‘n stoof met ‘n oond, yskas/vrieskas, mikrogolf en so ook ‘n ketel en broodrooster. Ook ‘n yster en strykplank, messegoed, breekgoed, potte, panne en so ook vadoeke en ‘n stofsuier.
