Since Anchorage River House is situated on the eastern bank of the Goukou River, the place is also delightfully tranquil. Still Bay is a popular coastal town in the Hessequa region in the Western Cape Garden Route in South Africa.

Be on the lookout for a brown road sign indicating the inconspicuous turn-off towards Anchorage about 1 km from the Stilbaai bridge. Follow the narrow dirt road with its inconvenient, but highly effective, speed bumps as far as it goes. There you will find your treasured destination – Anchorage River House with its vineyard, along with its olive and fruit trees and friendly and well cared for dogs.

Since the Goukou River is navigable for some 17 km guests can swim, fish and row, as well as ski at Anchorage. In fact, the stretch of river in front of the River House is a ski area. This is also a perfect place to do some birdwatching what with the abundance of bird species around.

Greyhound Suite – 2-sleeper

This self-catering suite comes with its own private veranda that offers a terrific view of the Goukou River. The suite is in the form of an open-plan kitchenette/bedroom and is furnished with a king bed. Also a TV (selected DStv channels), wardrobe, huge mirror and a table. Apart from a bath, the en suite bathroom also has a shower, basin and toilet.

Whippet Suite – 2-sleeper

Another self-catering suite offering a private veranda with comfortable chairs and a stunning river view. The open-plan kitchenette/bedroom is equipped with a king bed, wardrobe, table as well as a TV (selected DStv channels). The en suite bathroom has a bath, shower and basin, along with a toilet.

Borzoi Suite – 2-sleeper

This suite is on the top floor and is accessible by means of a staircase at the back/side of the building. It comes as an open-plan bedroom/kitchenette along with a full private bathroom (bath and shower).

The suite is equipped with a king bed, table, chairs, couch, wardrobe as well as a TV offering selected DStv channels.

It also sports a cute little balcony with braai facilities and a splendid view of the river.

• Nature lovers can enjoy bird-watching, hiking, mountain biking, game drives in the area, as well as whale watching in the winter.
• For the curious there are various places to visit such as the ancient fish traps and the shell middens of the ancient people. Also the Blombos Caves, the indigenous garden ‘Tuin op die Brak’ as well as the feeding of the eels. Nog ‘n selfsorgeenheid met ‘n eie stoepie en lekker gemaklike stoele vanwaar jy die ononderbroke rivieruitsig kan bewonder. Die oopplan kombuis/leef-/slaapvertrek kom met ‘n koningsgrootte bed, hangkas, tafel en so ook ‘n TV met geselekteerde DStv-kanale. Daar is ook ‘n volledige badkamer (bad en stort).

Borzoi Suite – Slaap 2

Hierdie selfsorgsuite is op die tweede vlak en die ingangstrap is aan die agter/sykant van die gebou. Dit is in die vorm van so ‘n oopplan slaap-/leef-/kombuisruimte tesame met ‘n volledige badkamer (stort en bad).
