Mossel Bay region info
Welcome to Mossel Bay – the Garden Route and South Africa’s ‘Do Stuff’ destination.
About Mossel Bay
Mossel Bay is located exactly half-way between Cape Town – the provincial capital of the Western Cape Province – and Port Elizabeth (both 400 km away), so it’s your ideal holiday destination, and the logical place to stop and relax on any local itinerary.
The broader area where we are located is known as the Garden Route. The Garden Route is known for its diversity in nature and mild climate. The coastal area is mainly Fynbos (Riversdal – Mossel Bay), as well as foresty areas (George – Tsitsikamma) and in the northern section (Oudtshoorn) you will find a semi-desert climate and scenery.
Weather & Nature of Mossel bay
We have more than 60 kilometres of beaches – and warm, beach-going weather throughout the year (with at least 300 days of sunshine in every 365!); the riches of the Indian Ocean, the Cape Fynbos and the Outeniqua Mountains; Culture that stretches back over 164,000 years; 21st century infrastructure; and accommodation for every budget.
Why visit Mossel Bay?
We have the perfect mix between adventure, family, activities, culture, great local and traditional cuisine, pristine beaches, warm atmosphere and friendly people.
Centrally located in the Garden Route, Mossel Bay is the perfect ‘base station’ for your holiday. All the other towns are a short scenic drive away. ‘Day trips’ is a popular term in our area, as our guests love to visit the Garden Route but stay in our cozy bay.
Truly a great destination to visit and explore the Garden Route from.
But it won’t all be relaxing – because there really are so many things to do here.
We hope you enjoy browsing our site – so many adventures, so many attractions! – and that we’ll see you soon in Mossel Bay.
