Plettenberg Bay
The jewel of the Garden Route and is tranquil and charming, hospitable and rather special. Originally christened “Bahia Formosa” (beautiful bay) by early Portuguese explorers, Plettenberg Bay offers the visitor miles of sweeping, unspoilt golden beaches, a dramatic rocky peninsula, intriguing lagoons and estuaries, towering indigenous forests and unpolluted rivers and sea. With its exceptional climate and beautiful view sites over the Indian Ocean, Plettenberg Bay is perfect for tourists interested in exploring, watching or just lazing.
Situated between the hills covered with indigenous Fynbos and the Bitou River is the tranquil and rural village of Wittedrift, it is a bird and nature lover’s paradise.
Tsitsikama
Tsitsikamma is an ancient San word meaning: “place of many waters”. In contrast with the lush indigenous forest and profusion of fynbos are the high mountains and deep gorges and rugged coastline that together create a unique and scientifically splendid region. Tsitsikamma is a water lover’s paradise with sea, rovers and water cascading down towards the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, where sun worshippers lap up the warm rays throughout the year. The Tsitsikamma National Park, the country’s pioneer marine reserve that incorporates Nature’s Valley and Storms River is where the famous Otter Trail runs between beaches, rock formations and forests; one of the most scenic trails in the country.
