The Western Cape Province consists of six districts, one of which is called the Garden Route. The Garden Route District, in turn, comprises seven regions, namely Hessequa (The Explorer’s Garden Route), Kannaland, Mossel Bay, George, Oudtshoorn, Knysna and Bitou (Plettenberg Bay).
Although they form part of the Garden Route District, Kannaland and Oudtshoorn are commonly referred to as The Klein Karoo. As a matter of fact, there are very distinct natural differences between the Klein Karoo and the Garden Route regions.
