Cango Mountain Resort

Self-catering 3-star accommodation for backpackers as well as camping sites and chalets in the Swartberg Mountains. About 24 km from Oudtshoorn and 10 km from the Cango Caves and next to the Koos Raubenheimer Dam. Run by the Oudtshoorn local municipality as well as AA recommended, this beautiful mountain resort is the perfect place to reload your batteries. Lots of activities to keep young and old entertained in a safe as well as uniquely beautiful environment.

They operate the camping sites on a first come, first served basis. Guests pay when they arrive and also choose their own site from those available. They also charge per tent with a maximum of 4 persons per tent.

There is a youth centre with dormitory accommodation for up to 100 people as well as a self-catering conference facility (bring own equipment). The conference facility caters for up to 60 people such as business persons or organisations to do their business undisturbed in a peaceful natural surrounding.

Day visitors are of course always welcome at the Cango Mountain Resort.

Accommodation at the Cango Mountain Resort

Chalets (15 units)

The self-catering chalets are near the swimming pool and jungle-gym in the front part of the resort. Some chalets can sleep 4 persons and some can sleep 6 people. They all have 2 bedrooms. In the 4-person chalets there are either 4 single beds, or one double bed and two single beds. In the 6-person chalets there is a double bed in the one room and 2 double bunkers in the other room.

The chalet kitchens are fully equipped for self-catering with fridge-freezer, stove, microwave and kettle. Furthermore there is a bathroom with a bath and shower head, a table and chairs and a small TV with satellite TV. There is also an outdoor stoep with a braai and grid.

Log cabins (6 units)

The log cabins are built against the mountain and are a bit more secluded. They all sleep up to 4 people There is only one bedroom with a double bed or 2 single beds and a double sleeper couch in the lounge. They all have a bathroom with a bath and shower as well as a cane lounge suite, Jetmaster heating and a TV with satellite TV. Furthermore they have an open plan kitchen fully equipped for self-catering with a stove, fridge, microwave and kettle.

Camping and caravaning

The 3-star caravan and tent sites are spacious, grassed and level and located alongside the river running through the resort. All of the sites have electricity as well as water points nearby.

The ablution blocks are spotless as offer laundry as well as scullery facilities. Adequate hot water is always on tap and a night watch is available after hours. Unfortunately, we do not have fixed braai-pits, so a portable braai is a must-bring.

Kango Bergoord

Selfsorg 3-ster akkommodasie vir stappers (backpackers) en so ook kampplekke, huisies en houthutte in die Swartberge. Dit word deur die Oudtshoorn Munisipaliteit beheer en word ook deur die AA aanbeveel. Daar loop selfs ‘n riviertjie deur die oord waarlangs die kampeerplekke uitgesit is.

Hulle werk op ‘n eerste kom, eerste kry basis so gaste betaal met die inkom en gaan kies dan self hulle kampplek onder die wat nog oop is. Tentkampeerders betaal per tent vir ‘n maksimum van 4 persone per tent.

Daar is ook ‘n jeugsentrum waar tot 100 persone kan slaap en so ook ‘n selfsorg konferensie-fasiliteit vir tot 60 persone. Bring eie toerusting. Dagbesoekers is ook altyd welkom.

Akkommodasie by die Kango Bergoord

Huisies (15 eenhede)

Die huisies is naby die swembad en jungle gym in die voorste gedeelte van die oord. Party huisies slaap 4 persone en ander 6 persone. Almal het 2 slaapkamers. Die 4-persoon huisies het 4 enkelbeddens of een dubbelbed en twee enkelbeddens. In die 6-persoon huisies is een dubbelbed en 2 stapelbeddens.

Daar is ‘n badkamer met ‘n bad en stortkop en so is daar ook ‘n eettafel met stoele en ‘n klein TV met satelliet TV. Die kombuis is toegerus vir selfsorg met ‘n yskas, stoof, mikrogolf en ketel. Daar is ‘n stoep met ‘n buitebraai met ‘n rooster.

Houthutte (6 eenhede)

Die houthutte is bietjie verder teen die berg gebou en elkeen slaap tot 4 persone. Daar is een slaapkamer met ‘n dubbelbed en so ook ‘n dubbelslaapbank in die woongedeelte. Hulle het ‘n badkamer met ‘n bad en stort en so ook ‘n rottang sitkamerstel, Jetmaster en TV met satelliet TV. Verder is daar ook ‘n oopplan kombuis toegerus vir selfsorg met ‘n yskas, stoof, mikrogolf en ketel.

Tent- en Karavaanstaanplekke

Die 3-ster karavaan- en tentstaanplekke is ruim, grasbedek en gelyk al langs die riviertjie wat deur die bergoord loop. Daar is elektrisiteit en so ook waterpunte naby die staanplekke.

Die ablusieblokke is skoon en het ook wasgoedgeriewe en so ook opwasgeriewe. Daar is genoeg warm water en ‘n nagwag is na-ure beskikbaar. Ongelukkig is daar nie braaiplekke nie, so bring asseblief ‘n draagbare braai saam. Daar is wel hout op die terrein te koop.
