The Fairy Knowe is a three star hotel with 42 guest rooms set in the Wilderness National Park Lake District, on the banks of the Touw River. Surrounded by lush gardens with beautiful riverside accommodation and central to all tourist attractions.

We are situated almost in the centre of the Garden Route – it’s about 45 minutes’ drive to both Mossel Bay and Knysna, and a little less than an hour to Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo, so it’s perfectly placed for tour groups and individuals who want a base from which to explore the region.

In fact, the Garden Route and Klein Karoo area itself is the hotel’s greatest attraction. It’s a Mecca for sport and adventures: the city of George is only about 10 minutes’ drive from our front door and the airport is about 15 minutes away, and Wilderness is part of the unfenced Garden Route National Park – with some of its most popular walks and trails.

The village of Wilderness is nestled between the Kaaimans River and the Wilderness National Park. The Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean form a natural border to the North & South. Appreciated for its green beauty and romantic lagoon as well as golden beaches that continue into the horizon.

This magical destination is a birder’s paradise with 280 species where the Knysna Loerie is a daily visitor. Here you enjoy direct access to one of the 18 remaining indigenous forests in the world either by nature trail or river. The vegetation can be seen in its natural environment where trees are marked for easy identification. There is also an 800 year old Yellow-wood Big Tree nearby.
