About Route 57 Restaurant

The restaurant is housed in a historical sandstone building built in 1906 which was bought and restored by international golfing star, Louis Oosthuizen, 2010 Open Champion. Elegantly decorated in various shades of ivory, tan, red and white with red drapes, stylish chairs and lots of pictures on the walls. There is also a lounge-like space with easy chairs and portraits, photos and other memorabilia of Oosthuizen’s golfing days.

Food and Drink at Route 57 Restaurant

Their varied menu includes typical breakfast food such as fried tomatoes, fried eggs, bacon, mince, sausage and chips beautifully presented. They also serve lunch and dinner, including kiddies dishes, as well as hot and cold beverages such as various coffees and teas, juice and ice tea. Their wine-list offers 40 premium wines and vintages – something for each taste and to accompany each dish.

The different food choices on the menu come under various headings firstly offering Starters. Then there are their Signature dishes, the Traditional South African dishes and favourites, the Seafood, the Burgers, Salads, Desserts and Beverages. They offer a wide variety of meat dishes such as mushroom fillet, lamb shank, steak, pork neck and pork rib, as well as stew bredie and trio venison (kudu, ostrich and springbok). The chicken à la pork consists of chicken fillet topped with bacon, mozzarella and melted cheddar cheese and is simply heavenly.

Their burgers come with chips and onion rings and they even offer jaffles with salad. If you do not know what a jaffle is, this is the perfect time to find out! The menu also caters for the vegetarian with a vegetarian platter.

To round all of this off, you can also indulge into decadence with their baked chocolate and ice cream, crème brûlée or sago pudding. Or go for a cheese platter, Irish coffee or simply a cup of coffee or tea.

Die spyskaart bied ontbytdisse, middagetes en so ook aandetes aan. Daar is ook disse vir kinders. Eerste op die spyskaart is die voorgeregte, opgevolg deur die spesiale geregte van die restaurant. Daarna is daar ‘n hele verskeidenheid tradisionele Suid-Afrikaanse disse, soos bredie en lamskenkels.

Hulle bedien ook smullekker seekos, keurig voorgesit en so ook verskillende burgers met skyfies en uieringe. Daar is ook verskillende slaaie soos in die seisoen beskikbaar. En vergeet nie die soetgoed nie, soos gebakte sjokolade met roomys, sagopoeding en so ook crème brûlée. Of dalk liewer ‘n kaasbord, Ierse koffie of sommernet ‘n eenvoudige koppie koffie of tee.
