The historic Great Brak River train station building is now accommodating the Transkaroo Restaurant. If you are lucky, a train might roll past while you are enjoying their delectable food. From this beautiful spot with tons of character you can simply drink in the splendour of the view in all directions.

Transkaroo Restaurant Menu

The menu is written on blackboards on the walls to keep up with the seasonal changes to keep up with what is good at present. They also look after vegetarians and children so that everyone can enjoy their food.

The Transkaroo Signature Dish is the rolled lamb neck which is slowly cooked to the point of falling off the bones. They also offer other great meat dishes such as oxtail and succulent pork belly. Other dishes you might find here are ‘skilpadjies’ made from scratch and served with onion marmalade.

Their chefs of course make their own delicious pies as well as curried coconut fish cakes. Also balsamic onion marmalade and Camembert tart. You might perhaps want to try their snails vol au vents with blue cheese sauce. To round off your meal, they also offer something sweet such as lavender crème brûlée or moist malva pudding and rich custard.

And of course, a glass (or two) of elegant wine of your taste from their expertly selected wine list.
