The History of Botterkloof

In short folklore has it that early in the 18th century, a Still Bay farmer was travelling to the market with his ox-wagon loaded with vats full of butter. In a valley 6 km from Still Bay the wagon tipped over and of course the butter spilled everywhere. From that mishap thus the name Botterkloof!

The Farm consists of 240 hectares of which 30 hectares are pastures. The rest of the veld is by and large covered in an abundance of fynbos with 6 varieties of Proteas. Along the walk ways, you may come across some game as well as a large variety of wild birds and waterfowl.

They have 17 fully equipped self-catering cottages with bathrooms with separate bath and/or shower. These cottages have from 2-4 bedrooms and they also offer also 2 Bed and Breakfast units. Television of course includes SABC 1, 2, 3 and ETV. DSTV though can be provided on request.

On the whole Botterkloof offers exceptional value for money. They also cater for weekends-groups, weddings, conferences, birthdays and special functions. Their chapel is situated inside the Deer Park and can seat up to 120 persons.
