Gourits Self Catering

In 1998 the old Gourits Hotel was converted into Self Catering units by Gourits Trust. These units are walking distance from the local shops and about 150 meters from the beach. Gourits Self Catering Units cater for both the international and local markets by offering units of different sizes and prices. Each unit is fully equipped for self-catering and includes its own private braai area. We also have our own onsite Kontrei Winkel (Onsite shop) that includes groceries, hardware, fishing tackle and gifts! The building also has a small court yard with washing lines and sinks for laundry.

Gouritsmond Self Catering Units / Gouritsmond Selfsorg eenhede

In 1998, Org Nieuwoudt started converting the Old Gourits Hotel into self catering units with his bare hands one unit at a time. Today we know it as Gourits Self Catering Units, under the Gourits Nieuwoudt Trust. Org`s wife, Sanet Nieuwoudt runs the Gourits Self Catering Units, as well as the Kontrei Winkel (Onsite Shop). We have 16 units in total, but are numbered from 1 – 17, keeping the “Old Hotel” tradition number 13 as bad luck.

Each unit has its own braai, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, microwave, fridge, TV and more. Units at the front of the building all have sea views, while the units at the back of the building all have views of the town, the old church and the famous open field which we know as the “Old Caravan Park”. The “Old Caravan Park” is now a public park and is a rocks throw from the building for fun activities like playing cricket. The building also has a small court yard with washing lines and sinks for laundry.

are situated about 150 meters from the main beach (Blue Flag Status). The Gourits Self Catering Units is situated in the right spot of the town, as the local shops, bars, river, beach, rocky shore and the tidal pool is all walking distance away. Gouritsmond itself is a very safe town where children have the opportunity to roam free!
