Julian Phillips Mosaics – Julian Phillips Fine Art

Hugely talented and experienced artist specialising in the mosaic art form as well as other forms of fine art. Living in Wilderness between George and Sedgefield along the Garden Route in the Western Cape. Doing mosaic inlays commissioned by private individuals, businesses as well as municipalities. He also designs and makes mosaics to order, created on mesh which can be shipped world wide. Paintings can also be commissioned.

Mosaic art is of course an ancient form of expression of art and dates back to the oldest civilisations. This art form was used to reflect the history of society and parts of many of these mosaics can still be seen even today.

‘Mosaic work can be immensely therapeutic,’ says Wilderness artist Julian Phillips. ‘For people who have been through trauma or stress, the process of mosaic helps to lift the spirit, calm the mind, and restore psychological balance and harmony.’

About Julian Phillips Mosaics

This wonderfully talented mosaic artist studied at the Inscape Design College in Cape Town. He owned a mosaic shop there where he tutored in mosaic art for a number of years. Then he started a business in Observatory called Inlay making mosaics and furniture for another three years.

Thereafter Julian moved to Wilderness where he opened a shop in Milkwood Village. Due to quiet times during winters, he closed the shop after two years and started working from his workshop at home. Since then he has completed many projects for municipalities, businesses as well as private people.

His mosaic artworks include bespoke table tops, murals, kitchen splash-backs, bathroom and shower decorations, floor mosaics as well as cornices.
